Violence Against Women Act Program

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Program funds projects that assist units of local government develop and strengthen effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies and services to combat crimes against women.

Eligibility

  • Projects run from January - December.

  • Local 25 percent cash and/or in-kind match required for all projects.

  • Law enforcement, prosecution and victim service provider collaboration required, with one agency serving as lead on project.

  • Applications available in May; submission deadline on July 1.

  • Law enforcement and prosecution training.

  • Hiring law enforcement and prosecution staff.

  • Law enforcement and prosecution policy development.

  • Data collection and communication systems.

  • Stalking programs.
